On ftp.dk.freebsd.org, I have exactly the same problem. I exclude the
following stuff. Unfortunately, this requires keeping an eye for new
snapshots and updating the list so I only carry the latest and greatest.

/dev/da0s1g 393G 325G 36G 90% /data

/usr/local/bin/rsync -vaz --delete --exclude "development/FreeBSD-CVS"
--exclude "snapshots/200704" --exclude "snapshots/200705" --exclude
"snapshots/200706" --exclude "snapshots/200708" --exclude "ports/ia64"
--exclude "ports/sparc64" ftp-master.eu.freebsd.org::FreeBSD/
/data/ftp/pub/FreeBSD/
