I *think* you are using the wrong instructions. I've never installed that
way. Perhaps using the floppies would help. See the
http://www.freebsddiary.com/freebsd/dual.htm and it will walk you through
installation on a Windows 95 box. It will also point you to the sections
in the handbook you should have read. It *sounds* to me like you didn't
do that first.
