The rts/cts handshake is designed to solve the hidden node problem.  The
RTS tells everyone who can hear it that they can't broadcast and the CTS
does the same.  Assuming minimal weird multipath (always a issue at
2.4Ghz) that means no one should talk until the message is sent.
