Aaaa, good point. I'd sent him a message in private e-mail suggesting that he
move the .sh scripts in /usr/local/etc/rc.d to a temporary location and try
and reboot--perhaps it was a "local package" that was reacting poorly to
something new. But, if the kernel wasn't built and installed, that could
certainly reek havoc too!!!
