For FTP mirrors, this is a comparison between the contents of ftp.freebsd.org:/pub/FreeBSD/ISO-IMAGES-* directories and the CC mirrors. It should only be updated once a new ISO is released.

For CVSup mirrors, this is check for the $FreeBSD$ tag in the file CVSROOT-ports/modules, which is normally updated once per day.
For rsync mirrors, this is the age of the file TIMESTAMP. It is updated once every hour on ftp-master.
For WWW mirrors, this is also the comparison of the dates on the first page of http://www.FreeBSD.org.
For DNS mirrors, this is the quality of the DNS entries - See if the NS records and the CNAME records are pointing to valid A records, and if the SOA records are properly synchronized.
